Question: Is it OK to breastfeed my baby even if I have the flu?
Answer: It is important that you continue breastfeeding your baby, as your milk will contain the antibodies against the flu bug to boost your baby immune system. The flu virus is not transmitted through your breast milk. However, a breastfeeding mother can transmit the flu virus to her baby from  close contact with her baby. Wearing a mask during nursing will help to reduce the risk of sneezing or coughing on your baby.Try and rest as much as possible when your baby is sleeping and inform your doctor to prescribe medications that are compatible for you to continue with your breastfeeding.
