Question: My five-month-old cries a lot and his voice is now husky. What can I do to soothe his throat?
Answer: This happens quite a lot, and babies are highly unlikely to do any lasting harm to themselves this way. The pain is a protective mechanism to stop him from continuing further. It is unnecessary to give anything to soothe his throat. And bear in mind that traditional remedies containing honey are not advisable for babies less than 12 months of age because it can potentially cause botulism.
