Question: Why do mosquitoes seem to bite my baby more than the rest of us in the same house?

Answer: Your little one is more susceptible than you because her skin is thinner. She’s also unable to swat away a mosquito like you would. There are various herbs and plant extracts, such as citronella, which claim to be useful as natural insect repellants. But these are often less effective than chemical-based ones.

To adequately protect your baby, use an appropriate deet-based repellant on her skin. Some of these preparations come in lower concentrations for babies, to reduce exposure to the chemicals to them.

It is also important to prevent mosquito breeding in or around your home, so avoid accumulating stagnant water.
