There are four rice bowls to choose from – we like the Mixed Bowl ($15.80, pictured), which has crisp tempura prawns, a juicy chicken fillet and an assortment of veggies, plus an addictive shiso leaf. It’s good enough for a parent and child, or order a side of soba or thin udon ($1 each) if you need more carbs.
Then choose one of four sauces (there’s a non-spicy one for kids) and pay $2 more for a set meal that includes chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) and miso soup.
Don’t forget to order the yummy drinks there, such as three types of matcha latte and the refreshing honey ume soda ($5.80). Kogane Yama is at #02-50 Bugis Junction. Visit www.fb.com/ KoganeYamaSingapore.
