Chef Jeffrey Tan’s passion for Peranakan cuisine is his best kept secret and dishes are usually only prepared upon special request, so you’re in for a treat on Mother’s Day. Since 2013, Diamond Kitchen has been dishing out food that’s “wholesome, full of love and with no shortcuts”, in the words of Josh Chou, who founded it with his cousin. Its signature Diamond Gan Xiang Crab (market price) is finger-licking good, as are the Sauna Prawns (from 424). For Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, it’s introducing five new set menus, which range from $288++ (4 to 5 persons) to $888++ (8 to 10 persons).
Four new dishes will be available as part of the set menus or a la carte – the addictive Crispy Fried Potato Slices with Salted Egg Yolk ($12), Delicious Homemade Yam Balls with Otah ($16), 5-Step Diamond Kitchen ‘Duck Rice’ ($24 for small or $48 for large), as well as the Heart of Gold Warm Pumpkin Dessert ($3.50).
