My Melody has her own cafe in Singapore, finally. It’s about time, isn’t it? After all, her Sanrio friends Hello Kitty and Gudetama already have theirs.

This brand new My Melody Cafe at Suntec City opened its door on June 7. In fact, it’s right next to the Gudetama Cafe and is run by the same management team.

Expect all things pink and strawberries at this sweet hooded bunny’s paradise.

Your kids will adore the kawaii garden interior and be busy spotting My Melody’s friends, such as My Sweet Piano (that’s the pink sheep) and Risu (the little squirrel).

As compared to the Gudetama Cafe which can seat 112 people, My Melody Cafe only has space for 38 seats. (This space was previously Gudetama Cafe’s extended seating area.)

What this means: Be prepared to queue during peak hours.

Once again, famed food stylist, Shirley Wong who’s better known as Little Miss Bento, has designed the menu here. She’s also the menu consultant at Gudetama Cafe and Kumoya.

This time around, she has come up with fiveMy Melody-inspired mains, six desserts and seven beverages. Read on to find out the highlights.

Here’s a must-try: Japanese curry rice with crispy chicken karaage, creamy mashed potatoes, fresh mushrooms, brussels sprouts and carrots.

Yes, the curry and rice are pink, but don’t worry – no artificial colours are used in the food and drinks, Shirley assures. These are made with beetroot powder.

The spice level is very mild, so if your kids can take the curry dipping sauce at McDonald’s, they will love this flavourful dish.

This is the most expensive item on the menu: Bulgogi beef in taco shells, served with tropical salsa, romaine lettuce and lots of fresh berries.

Be fast with the photo-taking though; else the taco shells won’t stay crunchy.

The brioche is supplied fresh daily from cafe chain Joe & Dough, one of the partners behind this cafe.
