Baker & Cook and Plank Sourdough Pizza at Core Collective
Baker & Cook’s newest outlet is worth the trek to Dempsey’s new lifestyle hub, Core Collective. The gorgeous casual-chic new restaurant has floor-to-ceiling glass that overlooks a grassy playground, where little ones can have fun while you catch up with friends and family over a leisurely meal.
Known for its artisan breads and bakes, this branch offers a full-service experience from breakfast to dinner. Brunch faves you must try (and not just on Sundays): The Dutch Baby Pancake ($22, pictured), Peter Gordon’s Turkish Eggs ($20) – both are available until 3pm – and the Kulbharra Barramundi en Papillote ($28). Or try the outlet-exclusive Crowich, which is a cross between a croissant and a sandwich. Portions are big enough to share with kids, or they can choose from the kids’ menu, which has a Mini Mo & Jo Cheeseburger (12) and a vegetarian spaghetti ($12).
Sister outlet Plank Pizza is sited next door, and you can order its outlet-exclusive Plank pizzas, which are a foot long! It even has sweet pizzas which are perfect for dessert. With Swish! Swimming school, Barre Lab and Yoga Lab all in the same compound, this hub is ideal for a weekend workout followed by a languorous brunch.

Thai restaurants almost always welcome kids, but this one is definitely a notch friendlier.
At The Great Baan Ying Brunch (#TGBYB), grown-ups can pig out on home-cooked dishes, while the kids are entertained with handicrafts at the dedicated play area (pictured below).
If Baan Ying sounds familiar, that’s because it has 10 outlets across Bangkok. The name means “House of Ying”, after founder Auntie Ying. Its Singapore outpost is located in Royal Square, which is right next to Velocity mall and Novena MRT station.
The brunch is a value-for-money deal at $38.80++ per adult – you can graze on the buffet spread of 12 to 15 appetisers, sides and desserts, and order a main course. We liked our choices of Angus Beef Steak (about 150g) served with grilled seasonal vegetables, and Bone-in Iberico Pork Chop (about 250g; pay an extra $9.80++), and there’s prawns and salmon, too.
Top up $29.80++ to enjoy free-flow of beer and wine from 11am to 3pm. The brunch is available on Saturdays and Sundays.
Kids aged four to 10 years old costs pay $19.40++, which includes a fruit juice. It’s fine they don’t have a palate for spicy food – opt for the Junior Omelette Fried Rice or Junior Omelette Fried Noodles instead. There are also non-spicy items in the buffet line. Kids below age three dine free.

Coastes is one of those family restaurants that immediately lowers your blood pressure and gets you in the mood for chillaxing. Is it the pretty decor, the sandy beach on Sentosa, or the laidback vibe?
Its new brunch menu offers sharing portions of hearty fare, from Eggs Benedict ($18) to Rosti with Smoked Salmon & Poached Eggs ($18). Lighter options include Homemade Maple Walnut Granola with Greek Yoghurt & Fresh Berries ($12) and Bagel with Smoked Salmon served with chive cream cheese spread ($16).
Bigger appetites can try the Coastes Breakfast ($23), which has scrambled eggs, grilled thick cut bacon, snail sausage, forest mushrooms, fresh kale and toasted sourdough bread served, as well as coffee or tea.
And don’t worry if you forget to bring your own beach toys for the little ones – just ask the staff for a set and you can enjoy your meal while the kiddos have fun in the sand (remember the sunscreen and hats, though). There are showers in the toilets, so it’s easy to get changed.
Pay $45++ for free-flow cava and wine on weekends. The brunch is available from 9am to 3pm daily.

Les Bouchons Rive Gauche
This French restaurant’s Robertson Quay branch has a lovely riverfront view that’s perfect for lazy weekends. Bring a big appetite, because its Bouchons Riviera Brunch menu has a whopping 30 new items to try. Portions are generous and made for sharing.
We recommend you start with the Riviera Wellness Bowl ($18), a huge serving of delicious granola, honey yoghurt, goji berries, banana, strawberries and chia seeds.
Meat-lovers will like mains such as the Black Angus Rib Eye Steak ($39) with vigneron butter, mixed salad and free flow homemade French fries –very addictive – or the Bouchons Sunday Roast ($32), served with mushroom sauce and roasted baby potatoes. The roast varies from week to week, so call in advance to find out what’s cooking.
And don’t miss its signature Crepes ($8) with a choice of fine sugar, Nutella, Nutella banana or honey.
Sample one of its six cocktails ($18++ each) or its freshly squeezed juices, such as the Incredible Hulk ($10), which is blended with kale, green apple, cucumber, celery and turmeric.
The kids’ menu has two choices: cheeseburger ($12) and savoury crepes with either cheese and mushroom or chicken and cheese. Priced at $12 each, they come with a free cup of juice.
Little ones are kept busy on Sundays with colouring sheets and toys to play with on the grassy patch outside.

Beach Road Kitchen
Where are the bouncy castle, toys and balloonists? You won’t find them at JW Marriott Singapore South Beach’s Sunday buffet brunch.
Instead, its chefs engage the kids with hands-on baking fun – at no extra cost. My children, aged 10 and five, got to make pizza from scratch and watch their creations go into the wood-fired oven. They decorated cupcakes, as well.
Tip: Go early and settle your kids down for a good meal first. They might not want to eat once the guided activities begin.
But that’s when you and your spouse can feast on the sumptuous spread of oysters, lobsters and roasted spring lamb. Don’t miss the barbecue section, where you can pick fresh whole fish, such as seabass and snapper, and have the chefs grill them over charcoal.
Be sure to leave room for the Chef’s Pass-Arounds – these are sampling plates of off-the-menu dishes not available on the buffet and brought to your table.
The Sunday brunch is available from noon to 3pm, and costs $108++ per adult and $54++ per child from ages six to 12. Kids below six eat free.

If you prefer your main course served a la minute, Four Seasons Hotel’s Sunday brunch is for you.
Select from a list that runs from Western fares such as squid ink tagliolini with crab meat, ligurian fillet of sea bass and parma ham pizza. There are also Singapore delights like Hainanese chicken rice and seafood char kway teow.
For $36++ per kid aged five to 11 and $72++ per adult, the brunch also includes a semi-buffet of cheeses, salad, sushi, roast meats and desserts. Add $56++ for free flow of prosecco.
Kids can decide if they wanted to eat with you at the restaurant, or have the food delivered to a supervised children’s zone that is one floor above.
Every Sunday noon to 3pm, one of the function rooms is converted to a playland with a bouncy castle, teepee, books, toys and costumes. There is also a movie corner and food section, where kids can refuel with juices, pastries and fruit while they play.
It’s the weekend. You’re craving for hawker food, but the kids want to play. Where do you go? Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore, of course.
There, you can tuck into the Lobby Lounge’s weekend semi-buffet, which boasts a veritable feast of hawker favourites – think shui kueh from Tiong Bahru Jian Bo Shui Kueh and Harrianns’s yam cake and tau suan – and a rotating menu of side dishes like include mee siam, lontong and more.
For $29.50++, you also get one signature dish – nasi lemak from The Coconut Club, roti prata from Springleaf Prata Place, soft-boiled eggs with kaya toast, wanton mee, carrot cake or Hainanese Porridge – as well as local drinks such as kopi tarik, teh tarik and Milo (the portions of food are huge, by the way.) This breakfast buffet is available on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 11am. Kids aged 5 and below dine for free. Those aged 6 to 11 pay $14.75++.
The signature dishes are also available a la carte on weekdays.
