Did you know that the Sengkang used to be a fishing village? Its name means “prosperous harbour”. Now, your kids can relive the old days in an adorable sunken “ship”-themed playground there!
Young Parents visited the nautical-themed play space in Sengkang as part of our series on amazing HDB playgrounds (watch previous episodes below).
Located at Compassvale Cape, between Block 286C and Block 287A Compassvale Crescent, the playground was completed in 2017.
The main feature is a a sunken “ship” play structure with climbing elements, as well as play equipment inspired by sea creatures – there’s a shark-shaped rocking chair and a seesaw shaped like an octopus.
Even the rubber mat flooring mimics the ocean’s colours. There’s also a storyboard that encourages kids to role play as seafarers.
This Sengkang playground is one of the new generation play areas that reflect the unique heritage of some HDB estates, which Young Parents is featuring in our series. Watch previous episodes below, too.
