Who knew Mandopop star Jay Chou is such a doting husband and father? His wife, model Hannah Quinlivan, previously revealed on a talk show that the couple were planning to have “two to three children”.
She added that he reassured her after she gave birth to their first child Hathaway in July 2015: “I will love you first and our daughter second.”
Now the loving couple is expecting their second baby – a boy.
Chou announced this on Facebook – a minute into Valentine’s Day – with a photo of himself on a boat with Quinlivan, posing with her pregnant belly.
In the cryptic post, Chou alluded to the Chinese saying that a daughter is her father’s lover in a previous life.
“It’s time for mummy’s past-life lover to arrive,” the 38-year-old wrote, before wishing everyone a happy Valentine’s Day.
Quinlivan, 23, and Chou married in July 2014, before holding their wedding in January 2015.
Husband and wife almost never quarrel, Quinlivan shared, and he was loving during her pregnancy, never missing a single prenatal check-up.
For her confinement, she asked: “Are you ready to be a male nurse again?” and he did not hesitate to shoulder the burden.
She hopes to be financially independent and he respects her wishes, she said.
Even when both have to work overseas, they are never apart for more than five days. When she is at work or a taping, he is at home taking care of their daughter.
Before Chou settled down, he famously said that he wanted five kids. But he has given up this bubble after seeing how tired Quinlivan was when she was pregnant with Hathaway.
“We will just have enough children,” he was quoted by China Times as saying.
